Compare a dollar amount from years gone by in today's prices, or,
How much is that today, Grandpa?

Calculate Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 1665-2012

Have you wondered how much the value of your ancestor's property or money mentioned in an old will, deed or tax record is in today's dollars? Use this handy calculator to get an estimate of how much a dollar amount from a particular year compares to the value in today's dollars.

Input the dollar amount you wish to calculate. Select the past year from the pulldown menu, and select the year you wish to compare it to. The calculator returns an estimate of the value adjusted for inflation using the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This calculator was created using Javascript from the NASA CPI Inflation Calculator and additional CPI values from "Inflation Conversion Factors for Dollars 1774 to Estimated 2018" by Robert Sahr, from Oregon State University.
