Our guided tour of the Neill-Cochran is June 30
AGS lifetime member Mary Bohls — who grew up in the Neill-Cochran House — will take charge of a guided tour of the house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30.
The architecturally and historically rich house is now the Neill Cochran House Museum, owned and managed since 1958 by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. The house was opened as a museum in 1962. The NSCDA owns another 40 historically important homes across the U.S.
Commissioned in 1855, the house offers a 100-year intimate view of the styles and arts of growing Austin. It is located at 2310 San Gabriel St. Austin, TX 78705.
There is a small charge of $5 per person at the door, which goes to maintaining the house. Registration is limited to 15; you must be registered to attend.
July’s meeting will be a workshop – we’ll have a laptop and flip scanner and we’ll learn how to take photos and imbed them into your word documents. Bring a few photos if you’d like to scan them. Email your document and digital photos to email@example.com if you’ve already got them scanned. We’ll work on it adding photos to documents together using the TV in the room for all to see.
We meet in the small room next to the kitchen at Cafe Express – you are welcome to eat dinner there (at your expense) but that is not required. We share the cost for the room (about $5 a person or less depending on how many attend.)
If we have time we’ll do a reading or two – we’ll see how it goes. Hope to see you there!
