We all want our kids, grandkids, and their grandkids to remember stories about our families, but they don’t remember and store information like we do. To reach them, you have to tell short stories where they are – online.
Georgetown genealogist Tracie McFadden Burns of Backtrackers Genealogy will help you think about your memories in different ways, showing you how to use FindAGrave, MyHeritage, Ancestry, the new global family tree of FamilySearch, and even YouTube to tell about your family and their history in ways they will access, use, and maybe even remember.
This seminar is for people who already use computers sufficiently to be able to surf the Internet, attach a link, and crop a picture. If you can do those, you can use these resources to pass along those great stories and memories we all fear will be lost.
Tracie Burns provides storytelling and research genealogical services through her company, Backtrackers Genealogy (backtrackersgenealogy.com). She is a 5th generation Californian who grew up in Austin and has Scottish, Jewish, and Puritan ancestry. Surprisingly, she is not particularly thrifty.
This class is free. Please register in advance to save a seat and receive a handout.
