The Austin Genealogical Society began a project in 1999 to identify all Travis County cemeteries and headstones within each cemetery. Please help us preserve Travis County cemeteries. Ask us how you can help with the cemetery project!
Instructions
- Contact Kay Boyd, Cemetery Committee Chair, at records@austintxgensoc.org and let her know which cemetery you’d like to work on.
- Visit the cemetery and transcribe the name, date of birth, and date of death for each gravemarker.
- Fill out the Cemetery survey submission form (Excel document) when you are done transcribing the cemetery. Email the completed form to records@austintxgensoc.org.

Hensel Family Cemetery | 2003 | Located on Post Oak Bend Road, west of Lago Vista. Located in far NW Travis County on Singleton Road. Marked in a few places; not at intersection of Hwy 1431. After passing Lago Vista on FM 1431, look for sign to Travis Peak Church of Christ. This is Singleton Bend Road. Turn left and go less than a mile. There is a large two-story house. When the county was hauling road material out of Meckle Hill the graves could still be seen. When we (Perkins) visited the property, the graves could not be located. Need more specific location information to map this site but Bee Creek Road runs north from Hwy 71 from the Shingle Hills Quad, 3098-141 to the Pace Bend Quad, 3098-144. Roberts Family Cemetery | Located on the grounds of Freescale in Oak Hill. There is one recorded stone in this African-American cemetery. The headstones were broken and scattered about the area. It is estimated that the last interment in the cemetery was 1954. A remaining Roberts Family member says Daisy was the first of the family buried at the site. Her stone is the only one remaining.
