September Monthly Meeting: Finding Personal Stories That Bring Your Family Tree to Life

September 24 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Your ancestors’ diaries, journals, and letters are always a rich source of fascinating information. In them, your ancestors reveal who they really were and how they lived – telling you what they thought about their times and experiences.

Unfortunately, for most of us these gems weren’t passed down. But if they existed someone has them. And many have found their way onto the internet, either as digitized records or in catalogs. They are out there and they are a mother lode of information about the lives your ancestors lived.

How, you ask, do we find those hidden treasures? Our own John Marostica will give you the tools and knowledge you need to find those hidden genealogical gems at our September 24 meeting.

Speaker John Marostica

We all know John as AGS’s “Mr. Reliable”.  The man who is always there at our meetings to provide the audio and video capability for our presentations. But John does much more for AGS and for genealogy. John is the Technical Coordinator for the Lifetime Learning Institute and has taught the Genealogy Research Workshop series there for the past several years. He currently teaches two Genealogy classes (“Track your Family Tree”) each month at the Milwood branch of the Austin Public library plus an Excel class at the library’s downtown location. Even with all that activity, he also finds time to serve as the president of the Williamson County Genealogical Society. In a nutshell, John’s passion is sharing what he knows by teaching others; and learning from them in the process.

So, this promises to be a great meeting. And we hope to see you there on Tuesday, the 24th.
